Rectangles in the Square
A few years ago I had the pleasure working with Daryl-Ann while at a stock agency in NYC. After some time passed, we reconnected and I wanted to write about Daryl-Ann as she has engrossed new clientele, projects and recently won first place in an art calendar competition.

They say the city never sleeps and the same is true for Daryl-Ann, she never misses a beat and stays on top of her photography game, if you will. A few weeks ago Daryl-Ann submitted a beautifully photographed image “Rectangles in the Square” into “2010 Alternative Photography Calendar” and out of 2,000 votes, she won 1st place. This image is featured in the calendar for next year and both the calendar and limited edition prints are available for purchase.
Artists take risks and as we all know, entering into competitions is a risk within itself. We never fully trust our judgment and sometimes wonder if we are making the right decision. Part of submitting into competitions is just a small piece of the pie. Along with competing and developing her skills, Daryl-Ann currently has various photography pieces represented around the East Coast. For example, artwork from a new series is on display at Vermont PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, VT from December 8-January 9 2010 and is available for viewing on line with an art catalog available for purchase. Additionally, her artwork is currently on display at “From Here to There”, a group exhibit, lasting until January 10, 2010. Other endeavors have included co-curating a 6-week group exhibit of night photography in two adjoining Dumbo galleries last March 2009.
Daryl-Ann has an extensive eye for photography as she embraces all mediums of photography. From depicting soft images to corporate figures, she captures it all. In her latest shoot, she photographed, Kara Newman New York-based wine and spirits writer, author, and educator for her recently published book “SPICE AND ICE” headshot.
