Affordable Art Fair 2011

Yesterday I popped on over to the Affordable Art Fair and was met with refreshing galleries, buyers, representatives and a few artists themselves. This year it seemed Spain and Brooklyn dominated the art presense which was really awesome to see. While wondering around I saw “Seville, Spain” and had to talk with the gallery rep. Turns out Gabriela Aeberhard moved to Spain many years ago from Los Angeles and loves living there. She’s owned her gallery, MArtG (Murnau Art Gallery) for four years and faces many struggles galleries in the states face today.

Among some great talent I spoke with is Micheal from  Artstar | littlecollector.com just launched six months ago, this husband and wife team know their artists. Chrissy Crawford has an extensive background in the arts working as she provides art advisory services from independent, international art advisory sourcing works of art from auction houses, galleries, private dealers, collectors, and artists’ studios around the world and I’m looking forward to meeting her over the weekend.

I was also really impressed with Steven & William, such an awesome sight. They were tormented with ant farms going up so a huge part of that experience is brought to life in their work. Their motto “Spend your life doing what you love .Be focused and disciplined. Collaborate.” I love that and found talking with William really enriching and refreshing (this is the word of today so beware!). What’s really sweet is he invited me over to their studio for a studio tour – canNOT wait!

Krause Gallery is another new one to my ears located in the Lower East Side representing an awesome painter by the name of Andrea Dasha Reich with an jaw-dropping “that is soo cool” painting on display as well as for sale. Krause Gallery has an opening reception this upcoming October 20th from 6-9pm, definitely worth a look.

I could go on and on of the people I met but you should go for yourself. I spoke with people from all over the world as well as met other fresh faces I hope to continue talking with in the future.
