PDN PhotoPlus
James Balog, a global leader in environmental photography for nearly three decades, has spent years documenting the Earth’s changing climate. He is coming to The 2012 PDN PhotoPlus International Conference + Expo brought to you by The Nielsen Photo Group to give an inside look at the creative vision, technical breakthroughs and physical adventure that make up the Extreme Ice Survey (EIS), his latest body of work. You’ll arrive curious and leave inspired. Nikon is sponsoring Balog’s keynote presentation: Sat, Oct. 27; 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM. This extended Lunchtime Keynote will feature a sneak preview of Jeff Orlowski’s new documentary film, “Chasing Ice” featuring Balog. The film won top honors for cinematography at the Sundance Film Festival, and you can be among the first to see it at PhotoPlus before it makes its national theatre debut. (Visit www.chasingice.com to watch the movie trailer and learn more about the film.) Balog will be the third keynote presenter at PhotoPlus. The show – which will be held at the Javits Convention Center in New York City, Oct. 24-27 – offers the ultimate experience in photography, video and digital imaging with more than 90 educational seminars and intimate hands-on labs led by top talent. The other inspiring photographers who will present their work during keynote presentations are:
Stephen Shore – “Challenging Convention” Shore will examine the aesthetic roots of his body of work and how it grew out of his decades-long drive to push his work into new directions. One of the true pioneers of modern day photography, LaChapelle will share his images, his thoughts and the ups-and-downs of being a true photographic icon. Tickets for each keynote are $10. However, admission to all three keynote presentations is included with the purchase of a Gold Expo Pass or with the purchase of any PhotoPlus conference seminar – a $30 value.
